Everton’s woeful away form continued on Saturday afternoon as they squandered a 1-0 lead at Burnley to eventually lose 2-1 at Turf Moor.

The Toffees went into the game off the back of a 1-0 defeat at Watford last weekend, which had piled the pressure on manager Sam Allardyce, and that pressure is continuing to mount after another loss.

Everton did take the lead at Turf Moor as Theo Walcott’s cross was flicked on by Seamus Coleman, with striker Cenk Tosun powering home a header to score his first goal for the club.

Ashley Williams of Everton is shown a red card by referee Chris Kavanagh during the Premier League match between Burnley and Everton at Turf Moor on March 3, 2018 in Burnley, England.

However, Everton couldn’t kick on from there, and were punished when Matthew Lowton’s pass found Ashley Barnes, and he fired Burnley level, before Chris Wood headed home Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s corner to hand the Clarets a 2-1 win.

Everton’s afternoon lurched from bad to worse late on, as Ashley Williams was given a straight red card for an off the ball clash with Barnes, bizarrely elbowing the Burnley striker from an Everton free kick.

Williams, 33, has endured his worst Premier League season to date this term, and the man signed from Swansea City for £12million in the summer of 2016 (Sky Sports) is now receiving a huge backlash from fans on Twitter.

Everton supporters took to social media to suggest that it’s time for Williams to go, urging the club to sell him as soon as possible after a ‘garbage’ display and an embarrassing reaction by elbowing Barnes.

Others celebrated the fact that his red card means he will now miss playing time, and fans certainly don’t want to see the Welsh international captaining the club ever again after his petulant sending off.
