Andre Villas-Boas has been out of a job since November and the former Chelsea and Tottenham manager is ready to take another role.

Andre Villas-Boas has been discussing the prospect of returning to football management and what his next step will be in the game.

The former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur boss has not had a job in the dugout since November after leaving his position at Shanghai SIPG in China to take part in the Dakar Rally.

Now Villas-Boas is ready to take his next managerial role and while it seems a return to Europe is the plan, the Premier League may not high on the 40-year-old’s agenda.

“I am interested in the more competitive European championships. The Chinese championship was a good experience but it is limited by many policy decisions, which is natural,” the Portuguese told A Bola in his native country.

“I want to go back, yes. To Portugal, at the moment, no. Germany, France, Spain, Italy … Championships I have not tried.

“Back to England is not in my plans. It was a good experience both personally and professionally, but without titles. If Germany is at the top of the list? Yes, I think so.

“I have some crazy ideas: Brazil and Japan are dreams that I would like to achieve, but the margin I have in my career will be later. For now, I would like to return to Europe and stay for two to three years.”

Villas-Boas did not have the happiest of times in England after the Blues paid a then record £15m, as reported by the Telegraph, to buy him out of his contract at Porto in 2011.

Yet despite having won the treble of Primeira Liga, Portuguese Cup and Europa League in 2010/11, he did not even last until the end of his first season at Stamford Bridge, sacked in March with the club in fifth.

Villas-Boas moved straight onto Spurs the following summer, guiding them to the Europa League quarter-finals and missing out on Champions League qualification by a point to rivals Arsenal, before leaving White Hart Lane in December 2013.
