It became very apparent earlier this season that Liam Henderson needed to leave Celtic in order to get his career off the ground.

The homegrown midfielder made his debut as a 17-year-old back in November 2013 and he was tipped to become a future first-team star at the perennial Scottish champions, particularly when Brendan Rodgers, a manager renowned for promoting young talent, was appointed at Parkhead in 2016.

However, despite impressive loan spells at Rosenborg and Hibernian, Henderson found Rodgers a tough nut to crack. The 21-year-old only played 23 minutes of league football in 2017/18 for Celtic and it was no surprise when he bid farewell to the Glasgow giants in January.

Though few had expected this Livingston-born youngster to rock up in the second division of Italian football. As reported by the BBC, Henderson is now attempting to show what he’s made off all way over in Bari – and he has made a good first impression.

In only his fourth appearance for the club, who are managed by 2006 World Cup winner Fabio Grosso, Henderson produced one of the finest performances of his young career.

He drilled home his first Bari goal from the edge of the box to give them the lead against rock-bottom Ternana before sealing the win in the second half with a trademark corner that was converted by a towering Luca Marrone header.

This display was enough to have some Celtic fans rueing his exit already.
