Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has told Hotspur Way that he believes Harry Kane could leave if the striker holds any aspirations of winning trophies throughout his career.

The 24-year-old has continued to break records and wow pundits this season and is on course to win a third successive golden boot with the north Londoners, after scoring the winner against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

Kane now has 35 goals in 36 league and cup appearances this season, 24 of which have come in the Premier League but he is yet to get his hands on any kind of silverware with Spurs since Mauricio Pochettino took over.

Villas-Boas, who coached Spurs for 18 months between July 2012 ad December 2013, stated that Kane will look to leave if the England striker wants to win some silverware.

“It depends on Harry and his ambitions for the future and how he sees his career going forward,” Villas-Boas said. “If he has hunger for trophies, he will have to leave Spurs.

“If he has no hunger for that, but wants recognition and stability, then he will stay at Spurs. Spurs are in that break-up moment of becoming a great football team. The stadium is there, the infrastructure is there. The trophy cabinet is still missing.

“That is what footballers chase. Maybe one or two years at Spurs wouldn’t be bad and then see how the club develops.”
