Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure has admitted that he wants to join Arsenal over Tottenham Hotspur.

Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure looks set to be in demand this summer, and the Frenchman has declared his intentions.

Doucoure, 25, has starred for Watford this season, notching seven goals from midfield for the Hornets whilst impressing with his box-to-box ability at Vicarage Road.

The former Rennes star is now attracting major interest, with the Frenchman admitting – as quoted by The Mirror – that Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur all want to sign him.

Doucoure even noted that, if he could choose any of those clubs to sign for, he would want to join Arsenal, because of manager Arsene Wenger.

Wenger’s pulling power with French players over the years has been well documented, given his work with the likes of Patrick Vieira, Robert Pires, Thierry Henry, Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy, Samir Nasri and Lauren Koscielny.

Doucoure seemingly wants to join that list of French players to have enjoyed great success at the Emirates Stadium, with his comments unlikely to appease Tottenham fans who may yet be seeing him pull on a Spurs shirt next season.

However, Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to offer their reactions to the comments, suggesting that Wenger is the real draw for potential signings, even claiming that picking Arsenal over Spurs is barely news – despite Tottenham being seven points ahead in the Premier League.

Most Arsenal fans want to see Doucoure sign for Arsenal, suggesting that he can be the replacement for Vieira in the Arsenal midfield that Wenger has been lacking in recent years, wanting him to replace Granit Xhaka after his impressive displays for Watford.
