Rodney Marsh calls transfer offer for Harry Kane an insult, so how much is he worth?

Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur speaks to the media during the press conference at Allianz Stadium on February 12, 2018 in Turin, Italy.

The England striker has been in fine form for Tottenham Hotspur yet again this season.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been in fantastic form once again this season. He has scored 37 goals in 38 games for club and country this season which has left him obviously being linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Real fans have had enough of French striker Karim Benzema, who has been struggling this season, and Cristiano Ronaldo may still be brilliant but he is not at the level he has been in the past.

Kane is being seen by many as the most likely successor in the attacking department and Spurs fans know just how hard it is to keep someone at the club when the Spanish giants come calling - they learned the hard way through Luka Modric and Gareth Bale.

The number that has been doing the rounds, regarding a fee for the player, is £200 million - as reported by the Sun. That would make the English striker the world’s most expensive player, toppling Neymar from the perch after his mammoth move to PSG last summer.

One man who does not believe that is a fair representation is Rodney Marsh. The former England striker posted this tweet last night:

So how much is Kane worth?

Neymar has completely changed the landscape of player transfers. His £198 million move to PSG from Barcelona in the summer has hiked transfer prices around the globe. Philippe Coutinho, signed as his replacement by Barcelona, cost £145 million and when Kylian Mbappe makes his move to PSG permanent in the summer, he will cost £166 million.

The £100 million-plus mark has now been broken three times and at the current rate, Kane is easily worth the £200 million but any much more would be an alarming amount of money.

How much does Marsh think Real should pay? £225m? £250m? £300 million?

If Kane does go, Tottenham will no doubt be looking to smash the transfer record as they once did with Bale’s exit. The fee however could clearly go on to become astronomical.
