Hildeberto Pereira was certainly something of a character during his time at Nottingham Forest.

The Portuguese youngster arrived from Benfica under the management of Philippe Montanier and certainly had his moments in a Forest shirt.

He put in some good performances in a Forest shirt. His pace, raw power and dribbling ability saw him often getting the better of Championship opponents and there was certainly bags of potential in his boots.

It would however be safe to say that Pereira played a little bit on the edge. Because despite his ability. Forest fans will mostly remember him for one thing – getting sent off.

He amazed Forest fans when he inspired a comeback v Aston Villa, before seeing red for jumping into the crowd to celebrate whilst already on a booking. That was his first red, he was sent off twice more – against Blackburn and QPR – before being reprimanded by the club.

In the end, Forest decided not to sign the fascinating defender permanently.

He ended up in Poland at Legia Warsaw, but after struggling for first-team football he looked an absolute coup for League One side Northampton Town.

But guess what had Forest fans laughing last night? That’s right, Pereira managed to get himself sent off for the fourth time in English football. He received two yellow cards in the 2-1 loss v Gillingham yesterday – his fourth red card in just 28 league games in English football. What makes it funnier, he had come on as a sub and picked up both cautions within moments of each other in stoppage time.

Nottingham Forest fans are certainly pleased this talented but bizarre footballer is now somebody else’s problem.
