Jurgen Klopp comments on Simon Mignolet future; Liverpool fans respond

Simon Mignolet of Liverpool shouts instructions during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield on November 25, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet might not be a Red for much longer, if Jurgen Klopp's response to a question about his future is anything to go by.

It looks like Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has poured doubt on Simon Mignolet's long-term future at Anfield.

The Belgian goalkeeper has lost his number one shirt to Loris Karius since the turn of the year and the German's performance in Sunday's 2-0 win at Southampton has given rise to suggestions that Mignolet could spend the rest of the season playing second fiddle.

Liverpool were linked with Roma stopper Alisson during the January transfer window and it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see Klopp bolster his options between the sticks in the summer.

If Karius is still Klopp's first-choice keeper come the end of the season then that would suggest Mignolet is in the firing line.

And the former Borussia Dortmund boss sparked suggestions that he could leave Merseyside by refusing to rule out a summer exit.

When asked by ESPN what the future holds for the former Sunderland man, Klopp responded: "Nobody knows about future; or I don't know about the future."

Mignolet is far from a favourite within the Liverpool fanbase, considering the amount of mistakes that he has made during his four-and-a-half-year stint on Merseyside.

And suffice to say that Reds supporters are happy with Klopp's response.
