Paul Heckingbottom must start Ronaldo Vieira for Leeds United

Paul Heckingbottom should not make the same mistake as his predecessor, Thomas Christiansen, and leave Ronaldo Vieira out of Leeds United’s first-team.

Christiansen took a while to be won around by Vieira, before realising just how crucial the 19-year-old was to Leeds.

Heckingbottom also decided against playing Vieira during his first game in charge of Leeds, which came against Sheffield United, and the youngster was missed.

The midfield trio of Kalvin Phillips, Eunan O’Kane and Adam Forshaw was unable to help Leeds pick up a victory at Bramall Lane, with Leeds falling to a 2-1 defeat.

O’Kane, in particular, struggled - and Heckingbottom should now bring in Vieira as soon as possible.

Although Vieira is far from the finished article, his power and technique in midfield makes him a stand out option for Leeds.

And Heckingbottom should have already realised just how important Vieira is to his new side’s chances this season.
