Josh Windass has struggled for form in 2018 and Rangers fans believe he should not start the Scottish Premiership clash with Partick Thistle on Tuesday.

The jury remains out each of the January signings brought to Ibrox by Rangers. Although another window of recruitment gives the Glasgow giants the chance to rotate their squad and gives manager Graeme Murty the chance to drop under-performing players.

Like Josh Windass, for instance.

The 24-year-old has struggled for form since the turn of the year, perhaps distracted by speculation surrounding a return to England with Leeds United and Preston North End both making bids, as reported by the Daily Record.

Josh Windass of Rangers has a shot on goal during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers FC and Celtic FC at Ibrox Stadium on April 29, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

In fact, he has not scored in the league since that sublime first-time effort against Hibernian in mid-December. And a hat-trick against highland club Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup last week has not papered over the cracks for some dissatisfied fans.

Windass started brightly in the return clash with Hibs on Saturday but faded badly after the break as Rangers slumped to a 2-1 home defeat. And with the likes of Jason Cummings and Jamie Murphy waiting in the wings, the former Accrington Stanley attacker surely cannot afford many more similar performances and expect to keep his place in the starting XI.

And with the Gers making the short trip to Partick Thistle on Tuesday night, maybe it is time for Windass to be dropped for the first time in months.
