Hakeeb Adelakun of Scunthorpe United in action during the Emirates FA Cup First Round Replay match between Scunthorpe United and Northampton Town at Glanford Park on November 14, 2017 in...
The report indicates that the League One winger was the subject of a late bid on deadline day from Hull, but Scunthorpe decided to reject the bid as they look to hold out for a higher fee for their prized asset.
Adelakun has been in terrific form for The Iron this season, scoring four goals and grabbing a further 12 assists.
It comes as little surprise to see Derby monitor his progress, as the Rams are certainly going to be in the market for a new winger in the summer following the departure of Johnny Russell on deadline day.
Derby County manager Gary Rowett managed to plug the gap with the arrival of Chelsea’s Kasey Palmer on loan, but the club are still short on wide players. The 21-year-old can play on either side and also in a central position, offering the kind of versatility which may have prompted the interest from Premier League side Crystal Palace.
Crystal Palace has an abundance of talent in the final third, with the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Andros Townsend, Bakary Sako and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, yet Adelakun has the potential to be just as potent.
The report adds that the player has rejected a new contract offer from Scunthorpe and can walk away this summer for free – a situation which could result in further interest over the coming months.
