Newly-signed Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud
The transfer merry-go-round between Arsenal, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund came to an end yesterday. After Michy Batshuayi went to Dortmund, after they failed to land Olivier Giroud, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was free to make his record move to the Emirates. After those deals went through, Giroud was free to join Chelsea.
Giroud is the perfect option for Chelsea, with Alvaro Morata struggling in recent weeks they desperately searched for a striker. Linked at one time with both Andy Carroll and Peter Crouch, this worked out pretty well for the blues.
However, it did make for interesting viewing on BBC’s Match of the Day last night.

Arsenal’s shocking loss to Swansea City on Tuesday was obviously not as shocking as Chelsea’s dismal home result against Bournemouth last night. Therefore, the 3-0 loss at Stamford Bridge was shown first on the highlight reel
The cameras obviously panned to Olivier Giroud in his new Chelsea tracksuit, watching his new team-mates be put to the sword by Eddie Howe’s men.

Then, later in the show, Giroud came off the bench for Arsenal v Swansea?!
It was a piece of TV that highlighted the fragility of modern football and the way 24 hours in the game can be so disruptive and dramatic.
One minute you’re sent on to save Arsenal, the next you’re watching Chelsea get battered.
