Crystal Palace attempted to bolster their goalkeeping options with a move for goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow.

According to a report from Danish outlet BT, Crystal Palace failed with a late bid to bring Brondby’s Frederik Ronnow to the club during the January transfer window, just a few months after they previously failed to bring the goalkeeper to Selhurst Park.

It is no surprise that Roy Hodgson was linked with a move for a goalkeeper with neither Julian Speroni or Wayne Hennessey looking all that convincing so far this season. And it appears that the goalkeeper that they tried to sign at the very end of the window was Ronnow.

The 25-year-old is arguably one of the most talented goalkeepers currently plying his trade outside one of Europe’s higher profile leagues, and BT reports that Palace attempted to land him in the final hours of the window.

However, BT adds that the Eagles were unable to complete a deal as they left it too late to get a move across the line – in similar circumstances to the summer window when they also failed to sign Ronnow as the deadline loomed.

Despite their failure to sign Ronnow, it was still an encouraging deadline day for the Eagles, with Alexander Sorloth signing from Brondby’s title rivals Midtjylland to bolster their goalscoring options.

Sorloth may perhaps be hoping that he will be able to make his debut when Hodgson’s men host the team directly below them, Newcastle in the Premier League this Sunday. A win for the Eagles could potentially see them move into the top-half if results go their way.
