The Sheffield Wednesday striker is said to be unhappy at Hillsborough, prompting Sunderland to try their luck.

The Sun report [page 53] that Sunderland manager Chris Coleman is making a late loan move for Sheffield Wednesday’s Jordan Rhodes.
They claim the striker is unhappy at Hillsborough, where he has scored just nine goals in 48 games since his initial loan move in February 2017.

Rhodes has not started either of Wednesday’s last two fixtures under new boss Jos Luhukay, with Atdhe Nuhiu and then Lucas Joao taking his place.
Nuhiu, incidentally, is another Owls striker on Sunderland’s radar, according to the Sheffield Star.
Coleman’s side – who according to The Sun have ‘failed to bag’ Derby County’s Chris Martin – are desperate to replace James Vaughan and Lewis Grabban after the pair left the Stadium of Light in January.

Sheffield Wednesday are currently without Steven Fletcher, Gary Hooper and Fernando Forestieri, however, and an approach for either Rhodes or Nuhiu may not be entertained.
The Sun claim Sunderland also want to sign Liverpool and Bournemouth midfielders Ovie Ejaria and Emerson Hyndman.
