According to a report in the Chronicle, Newcastle United are discussing the possibility of signing Alfred Finnbogason from Augsburg.

Rafael Benitez provided Mike Ashley with a list of strikers he wanted at Newcastle at the start of the month, but those names have already been exhausted.

Newcastle have missed out on a number of targets, and they are now having to re-assess their options.

Finnbogason is said to be a new name emerging as a potential target, but a deal would have to be rushed through.

Newcastle have just hours remaining before the deadline, and they are in action later this evening when they take on Burnley at St. James’ Park.

If Finnbogason was to arrive at Newcastle, he would do so in good form.
