BBC Sport have reported on their live transfer blog (Wednesday, 10:32) that Crystal Palace are to forget about a move for Zaglebie Lubin goalkeeper Martin Polacek.

It is believed that Roy Hodsgon's side are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper, as the former England manager looks to add competition to Julian Speroni and Wayne Hennessey.

One-time Slovakia international Polacek was said to be a name on Palace's shortlist, but the stopper is now to remain with the Polish side as Palace are to look at other options before Wednesday's 11pm deadline.

Polacek first came to Palace's attentions after keeping eight clean sheets in 24 league and cup outings for the top-tier outfit this season, with a potential bargain on the cards as he is in the final six months of his contract.

But a move for the Slovakian is now off the cards and it could mean Palace instead look to push through a deal for Getafe goalkeeper Vicente Guaita, with the Daily Mirror claiming a £7million deal could be completed.

Polacek stands at a huge 6ft 5in and has an incredible ratio of one clean sheet in less than three games, conceding just 92 goals in 91 games.
