Sunderland have made a loan offer for Leicester goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic, HITC Sport understands.

Sunderland boss Chris Coleman is in the market for a new goalkeeper before the transfer window closes tonight, and Jakupovic is on his list of targets.

Sunderland have struggled in the goalkeeping department this season, with both Robbin Ruiter and Jason Steele failing to impress since their arrivals at the Stadium of Light last summer.

Ruiter is the current No.1 for Chris Coleman, but the Sunderland boss is keen to bring in a new keeper as he looks to lead his side to safety in the Championship.

Jakupovic has struggled to establish himself at Leicester after joining the club from Hull City last summer. The 33-year-old has made just two appearances both in the FA Cup in which he helped keep clean sheets.

Jakupovic has found himself third-choice keeper behind Kasper Schmeichel and Ben Hamer, and the Switzerland international is keen to move out to get regular playing time.
