Derby are trying to beat the transfer deadline to sign Chelsea midfielder Kasey Palmer on loan, HITC Sport understands.
Palmer is currently back at Chelsea after his season-long loan spell at Huddersfield Town was cut short earlier this month
The 21-year-old struggled to hold down a regular place in the Huddersfield side this season, after helping them win promotion to the Premier League last time round.
Chelsea are happy to loan out Palmer again before the close of the transfer window as he is well down the pecking order in Antonio Conte's first-team plans at Stamford Bridge.
A number of Championship clubs, including Birmingham City, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United and Norwich City have expressed an interest in taking Palmer on loan, but now Derby have joined the chase for his signature.
Derby boss Steve Cotterill is looking to strengthen his squad before Wednesday's 11pm transfer deadline and sees Palmer as someone who can add goals and creativity to his side as they look to maintain their push for promotion to the Premier League.
