Arsenal star apologised for error.
Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech had a night to forget at the Liberty Stadium as he dropped a clanger in the Gunners’ 3-1 defeat.
The veteran received flak from frustrated supporters – with their hopes of earning a top four place suffering another blow.
Cech issued an apology on Twitter after the game, vowing to improve.
Although mistakes are part of the game I always expect 100 % from myself and I’m not happy with the one I made today … back to work tomorrow !— Petr Cech (@PetrCech) January 30, 2018
Cech received a response from former Real Madrid stopper Iker Casillas, who offered his support from one goalkeeper to another.
Strong my friend! https://t.co/GAJcKpuQ3q— Iker Casillas (@IkerCasillas) January 30, 2018
Cech has not had quite the desired impact since his 2015 arrival from Chelsea.
He arrived billed as the missing piece in their title bid, only for Arsenal to fall short to Leicester, and they have since fallen further off the pace.
The 35-year-old is under contract at Arsenal until 2019. Whether he will earn an extension beyond that is very uncertain at this point.
