Aston Villa have decided against offering Alan Hutton a new deal, which is good news for Championship rivals and suitors Middlesbrough.

Aston Villa appear to be spending the final day of the transfer window desperately attempting to lure a striker to the Midlands.
But while reports of new additions have been frustratingly thin on the ground at Villa Park, it appears one player could be on his way out; albeit not for a few months.

Hutton has been a regular in Villa’s side this season, but it is understood they need to make cutbacks due to Financial Fair Play restrictions and the former Rangers talent could be sacrificed.
The Mirror adds that he is ‘shocked and disappointed’ to be told that he will not be wearing claret and blue next season, as he was keen to remain at the club long-term.

But right-back is one of the strongest areas of Steve Bruce’s squad, with Ahmed Elmohamady providing plenty of Championship experience while youngsters Easah Suliman and James Bree wait in the wings.
There should be no shortage of takers for Hutton, however, who The Mirror claimed earlier in the month was being eyed up by Championship rivals Middlesbrough.
