Newcastle United, West Ham United, Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion feature in HITC Sport’s 10pm transfer update.

Slimani passes Newcastle medical

Newcastle’s long search for a new striker appears to be over, as Sky Sports claim that Leicester City striker Islam Slimani has passed a medical with the club ahead of completing a loan move to St. James’ Park until the end of the season.

The Algerian target man, 29, has been a bit-part player for Leicester this term, starting just two Premier League games and scoring only once, and he now looks set to join Rafael Benitez’s men in a major deal for Newcastle.

Ayew completes Swansea return

After weeks of speculation, Swansea City have now completed the deal to re-sign West Ham United forward Andre Ayew, just 18 months since selling the Ghanaian to the Hammers in the first place.

Ayew now returns to the Liberty Stadium, and reunites with his brother Jordan, as Swansea look to the 28-year-old to fire them away from the relegation zone between now and the end of the season.

Arsenal fail with late Evans bid

According to The Telegraph, Arsenal made a late bid for West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans, but the Baggies rejected a ‘derisory’ £12million offer from the Gunners on deadline day.

The Northern Irish international centre back has been linked with a move away from The Hawthorns this month, but with little time left to do a deal and Arsenal’s offer snubbed, he looks set to stay with Alan Pardew’s men.

Hugill to West Ham draws ever nearer

West Ham’s search for a new striker has taken them to the Championship today, with the last few hours spent on securing a deal for Preston North End striker Jordan Hugill, who has hit 10 goals in 29 games in all competitions this season.

The Mirror now report that Hugill is in the final stages of a medical with the Hammers, and manager David Moyes will be handed a new centre forward before tonight’s deadline.

Sunderland finally set to land another striker

Having lost Lewis Grabban and sold James Vaughan this month, Sunderland have been desperate to land another striker, and manager Chris Coleman is finally set to secure one.

Sky Sports report that Middlesbrough forward Ashley Fletcher is set to undergo a medical with the Black Cats, and will put the finishing touches on a loan move until the end of the season.

One in for Crystal Palace…

Much like West Ham, London rivals Crystal Palace have spent the day trying to bring in a striker, and they are set to do just that with a deal for Norwegian hitman Alexander Sorloth.

The Telegraph report that a £9million deal for the Midtjylland striker – formerly of Rosenborg and Groningen – is on the verge of completion, with the Eagles pouncing after he hit 14 goals in 25 games in Denmark.

But one deal is in doubt

Whilst Sorloth is heading for Selhurst Park, question marks hang over a bid for Lille’s Ibrahim Amadou, with Sky Sports claiming that the French side won’t let their midfielder leave the club.

It’s believed that Amadou is currently in London begging Lille to let him complete his move to Palace, and it remains to be seen whether a deal can be completed.
