Report: Preston’s Jordan Hugill set for £8m Crystal Palace move

Crystal Palace look set to win the race to sign Preston North End striker Jordan Hugill.

According to a report from The Sun, Crystal Palace are on the verge of ending their hunt for a new striker as they close in on an £8 million deal to sign Preston North End’s Jordan Hugill.

The Sun reports that Roy Hodgson has considered moves for Ashley Barnes, Diafra Sakho and Eder during this window as he looks to bolster the Eagles’ goalscoring options, but with the deadline looming, some Palace fans may have feared that a new striker was not Selhurst Park bound.

However, it appears that Palace could be about to pull off a late deal. The Sun suggests that they agreed a move with the Championship side for Hugill that will see the Eagles pay £8 million to lure him away this month.

Hugill has enjoyed another promising season with the Lilywhites. After scoring 12 goals in the league during the last campaign, he has moved to eight goals for this term in the second tier, and Hodgson will be hoping that he will be able to replicate that form in the coming months as Palace look to ensure that their terrible start to the season is definitely behind them.

Hodgson’s men travel to the London Stadium on Tuesday night to take on West Ham knowing that a win could move them into the top-half of the table, and The Sun reports that Hugill could be in attendance for the game as he seemingly edges closer to his move away from Deepdale.
