West Bromwich Albion and St Etienne have been linked with Mathieu Debuchy of Arsenal in the January transfer window.

St Etienne are interested in signing Mathieu Debuchy from Arsenal in the January transfer window, according to The Independent.

It has been reported that the French club are looking to sign the 32-year-old former Newcastle United right-back on a short-term contract.

The report has also claimed that Debuchy would prefer to return to his native France, and that St Etienne hope to seal a deal for the former Lille star on January transfer deadline day.

This latest development will come as a blow to West Bromwich Albion, who have also been linked with a move for the France international right-back.

According to French publication L’Equipe earlier today, West Brom are interested in Debuchy and are set to step up their pursuit if the right-back (click here to read more).

However, the latest report from The Independent suggests that St Etienne could secure the services of Debuchy, and if that happens, then it will be a blow for Alan Pardew’s West Brom.

Debuchy has been on the books of Arsenal since the summer of 2014 when he joined from Newcastle for a transfer fee reported by The Telegraph to be worth £12 million.
