Newcastle United could turn to Gremio striker Luan after he was reportedly offered to Rafael Benitez according to the Daily Mail.

The Magpies are desperate for reinforcements up front to help Dwight Gayle and Joselu in the goal-scoring department.

The 24-year-old has seen his stock rise massively over the last 18 months. In 2016, he helped Brazil's under 23s win Olympic Gold when he scored in the quarter-finals against Colombia.

During the 2017 season, he scored 18 goals, eight of them coming in the Copa Libertadores (South America's equivalent of the Champions League) where he netted in the final as Gremio won the competition.

He has become a big game player and that is exactly what Newcastle need right now. He is an ever improving player with tremendous talent.

Luan already has two caps for Brazil and will want to make a push for a place in their World Cup squad. He has been influential for Gremio during a successful period where he has helped them win the Copa Libertadores and Copa do Brazil.

The 2017 South American Footballer of the year has scored 55 goals overall for Gremio, which is quite impressive considering he is still only 24.

His flair, technical ability and goals will endear him to the Newcastle crowd. He is the type of player who will try and lift fans out of their seats and that is exactly what is lacking in Benitez's team right now.

It would be a a signing that has long term potential and one that could be exciting. The Mail also report that Luan is being eyed by Liverpool, which proves his form is attracting the attention of the elite clubs.
