Everton were interested in Newcastle target Nicolai Jorgensen last summer.
Jorgensen has been in form for the Dutch club, scoring eight times in his last 10 games, and Feynoord are holding out for £20 million.
But Newcastle’s interest could alert Everton, who showed interest in Jorgensen last summer.
Danish publication BT reported Everton’s interest last summer after a prolific season in which he scored 25 goals for the club.
Jorgensen is in line to feature for Denmark at the World Cup and £20 million could end up looking a shrewd investment by the end of 2018.
Newcastle will be hoping that Everton are satisfied by their capture of Turkish striker Cenk Tosun, and do not decide to move on Jorgensen.
Everton beat Newcastle to the Tosun deal, but putting too much pressure on the forward may not be a wise idea and doubling up with a move for Jorgensen could be wise.
Newcastle certainly need Jorgensen more, but if they do not meet Feyenoord’s asking price they risk a deal getting hijacked by a club who can.
