Don Hutchison has suggested that Newcastle United should move for Kevin Gameiro over Islam Slimani.
Newcastle have been interested in Leicester City’s Slimani for some time, and while Hutchison feels that Algerian would be a solid addition, he suggests that there is better out there.
Hutchison claims that Newcastle should be moving for Gameiro, who could be available from Atletico Madrid.
Newcastle interested in I Slamani from Leicester. He be a good signing but Ide rather Kevin Grameiro from A Madrid if given the choice— Don Hutchison (@donhutch4) January 23, 2018
Newcastle have reportedly made a club record bid for a striker recently, and Gameiro has been tipped as a potential option.
The Frenchman could be available for transfer from Atleti, as the La Liga side have strengthened their strike force considerably this month.
The arrival of Diego Costa has forced Gameiro down the pecking order, and the 30-year-old could now be moved on.
If Gameiro was to move to Newcastle, he would surely go straight into Rafael Benitez’s starting line-up.
Newcastle have been struggling for goals throughout the season so far, with none of their current strikers finding the net prolifically.
