Egypt FA President Hany Abo Rida has claimed that Real Madrid want Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, 25, and will make a move for the Egyptian this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Abo Rida's comments were backed up by national team coach Hector Cuper, who also indicated that he had heard about Madrid's interest in his star player.

Salah arrived on Merseyside from Roma last summer for a fee of £34m (BBC). Having had a hand in 31 Liverpool goals this season, with 24 goals and seven assists, he has emerged as arguably the signing of the season, having outperformed other, much more expensive, summer arrivals.

Real are in desperate need of a new spark having endured an abysmal first half of the season, and it is believed that Los Blancos have singled out Salah as the man who can get them going again.

The Daily Mail reported that Abo Rida said: "Real Madrid will make an offer for Salah during the summer.

"Salah is now looking to improve his game. Obviously if an Egyptian plays for a club as popular around the world as Real Madrid, it's going to be great for Egyptian football."

Hector Cuper also reportedly opened up on Salah's future saying, "I've received news revealing Real's interest but let's not rush things."

With 15 games left in the league to add to his already emphatic tally for a wide player, Salah will undoubtedly attract further interest from the European elite.

From there Liverpool will have to hope they do not receive a huge bid this summer although, with Salah tied to a long-term contract, the Reds hold all the cards.
