Crystal Palace are close to signing Benfica midfielder Erdal Rakip.

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - OCTOBER 25:

Crystal Palace have endured a frustrating afternoon on Saturday as they lost 4-1 against Arsenal in the Premier League. However, on the transfer front, there is some good news waiting for the Eagles fans.

According to reports from the Daily Mail (Transfer live blog – 20/01/2018), Palace are signing Benfica midfielder on a loan move for the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old Under 21 international has undergone a medical on Saturday after flying to London on Friday.

He only joined the Portuguese club this month after his contract at Malmo came to an end. He signed a five-year contract with the Portuguese champions, but is expected to spend the rest of the season on loan at Crystal Palace before returning to his parent club.

Rakip has been excellent for Malmo this season, and his performances earlier this season should give Palace fans a reason to be excited about.

He scored eight goals in 24 starts and helped the club seal the league title. A goal scoring midfielder will be a welcome addition to Roy Hodgson’s side in January.
