Graeme Murty’s Glasgow Rangers reportedly want to bring Greg Docherty to Ibrox.

Rangers could be disappointed in their pursuit of Hamilton Academical midfielder Greg Docherty, according to latest comments from Martin Canning to The Daily Record.

According to The Daily Record, Rangers are interested in signing Docherty from Scottish Premiership rivals Hamilton in the January transfer window.

It has been reported that Graeme Murty’s side had a bid of £300,000 for the 21-year-old midfielder earlier this week turned down.

Hamilton manager Canning has said that Docherty will remain at the club.

When asked if he expects Docherty to remain at Hamilton, Canning told The Daily Record: “I do, yes.”

It seems that Canning is confident about keeping hold of Rangers target Docherty, but money talks.

The Daily Record has claimed that Hamilton want £600,000 as transfer fee to part company with the youngster, and if Rangers are able to produce that, then they should be able to secure his services.

Docherty is a very talented and promising young midfielder who has also played over 100 competitive matches in his career despite still being only 21 years of age.

Rangers are in the running for a second-placed finish in the Scottish Premiership this season.
