The young defender has been a regular for West Ham at U23 level this season.

West Ham United have some talented youngsters at their disposal, with defender Tunji Akinola one of the players who falls into that category.
The centre-back has been a regular for West Ham at U23 level this season and will hope to soon be able to test himself in senior football via the medium of a loan spell.

While he is very effective at making important interceptions, Akinola is also known for his composure in possession and his playing style is rather similar to that of West Ham first-team star Winston Reid.
Although he is eligible to represent either England or Nigeria the youngster has yet to receive a call-up for either country at youth level, although that could well change if he goes on loan and demonstrates his ability on a bigger stage.

The 19-year-old faces a difficult task in attempting to make the breakthrough at West Ham, especially given that the club can already call upon Declan Rice, a player who is younger than him and is already established in the first-team.
It may well be the case that Akinola will have to eventually leave West Ham permanently so that he can play regularly elsewhere, but he has certainly benefited from the experience that he has gained playing for the U23s.
