The Everton man is a reported transfer target for Newcastle United.

The Magpies are interested in signing Toffees ace Aaron Lennon, according to ESPN, as Rafa Benitez looks to bolster his ranks in the wide attacking areas at St James’ Park.

The 30-year-old has played a peripheral role for Everton this season, making just nine Premier League appearances, and his opportunities of regular first-team action could now be limited further still, after Theo Walcott’s arrival at Goodison Park.

Lennon still has a lot to offer at the very highest level, however, and despite the fact that he has lost a yard of pace, he would be a useful addition to Rafa’s squad.

ESPN claim that the Spaniard is a keen admirer of the 21-capped England international, and sees him as the ideal addition to his squad.

Lennon only has six months remaining on his current deal with the Toffees, so the Magpies should be able to secure themselves a bargain, should they move for the winger.

The former Tottenham man’s experience could prove to be vital to the Toon, as they look to fight their way clear of relegation trouble.

With the January transfer window now well and truly open for business, this will be one for both Everton and Newcastle fans to keep a close eye on.
