Sheffield Wednesday look set to complete their first signing of the Jos Luhukay era – and it will be another Dutchman of Indonesian descent, according to Tubantia.

The Dutch newspaper published comments from Nico-Jan Hoogma on Wednesday, in which the Heracles Almelo sporting director confirmed the Owls’ interest in Joey Pelupessy and claimed that a move to Hillsborough was ‘absolutely what [the player] wants’.

And the same publication has since reported that an agreement has now been reached between the two clubs, with the defensive midfielder [pictured below, left] en route to Sheffield for a medical, so that a transfer can be ‘completed quickly’.

Pelupessy, who it is claimed was recently denied a move to New York City FC, is out of contract in six months’ time, which should see his market value significantly reduced.

Sheffield Wednesday are currently without a number of players in the 24-year-old’s position, including key men Sam Hutchinson, Kieran Lee and Barry Bannan.

And at a press conference on Monday, Luhukay, who took charge of his first Owls’ fixture three days earlier, refused to put a date on when any of the above might return to action.
