Rangers coach Stuart Taylor is already set to leave Ibrox.

New Stoke City boss Paul Lambert has told The Scottish Sun that Rangers coach Stuart Taylor will be joining him at the bet365 Stadium.

Stoke decided to sack manager Mark Hughes last week after a torrid run of form, but they suffered a number of setbacks in their quest to find a replacement.

Quique Sanchez Flores and Martin O’Neill both turned down the job before Stoke took the surprise decision to appoint Paul Lambert on Monday, handing the Scot a return to football.

Lambert had been out of work since leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of last season, but the former Aston Villa boss has now been handed a shock route back into Premier League management.

Lambert saw his new side lose 3-0 to Manchester United on Monday night, and he will now look to assemble his squad around him to aid him in the job, with The Mirror claiming that he wants to reunite with Stuart Taylor.

Now, Lambert has told The Scottish Sun that Rangers coach Taylor will indeed be joining him at the bet365 Stadium, noting that he will help bring togetherness to the group as Stoke look to escape trouble.

“I’m bringing in Stuart, who was at Wolves with me,” said Lambert. “Getting a togetherness and spirit here will take us a long way,” He added.

Taylor worked with Lambert at Wolves, but had been out of work before last week, when he took on a role coaching Rangers’ development squad following Graeme Murty’s promotion as Gers boss.

However, after just days at Ibrox, Taylor is leaving Rangers to reunite with Lambert, and that may well leave the Gers looking for yet another appointment.
