Takeover talks between Mike Ashley and Amanda Staveley at Newcastle United appear to have collapsed.

Jim White has tweeted an update on the situation at Newcastle United, amid rumours that a takeover had collapsed last night.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley claimed that takeover talks with Amanda Staveley had been a ‘waste of time’ yesterday, and appeared to walk away from any potential deal.

However, White claims that Staveley’s initial £250 million offer for Newcastle still remains on the table.

It seems highly unlikely that Ashley will consider accepting those terms now, given that they fall short of his valuation of the club.

Ashley has demanded a high price for Newcastle, after putting the North East side up for sale.

Newcastle fans have expressed frustration at the collapse of talks between Ashley and Staveley, with their hopes of a fresh start collapsing.

Most Magpies fans had been optimistic about Ashley’s ownership coming to an end, but it now seems that he will remain at the helm at St. James’ Park for the foreseeable future.
