West Brom are said to be interested in Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy.

The Daily Mirror has claimed on its live transfer blog (Monday, 10:45am) that West Brom target Mathieu Debuchy is now interesting Ligue 1 side St. Etienne with his Arsenal future in doubt.

The 32-year-old is way down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, after finally returning from long-term knee injuries to make seven appearances in the FA Cup, EFL Cup and the Europa League this season.

However, he is yet to play a single minute of football in the Premier League under Arsene Wenger in 2017-18, and is expected to leave the Gunners in order to revitalise his stuttering career.

The 27-time France international was interesting West Brom earlier this month, with Alan Pardew looking to reunite himself with Debuchy at the Hawthorns after signing the right-back from Lille at Newcastle in 2013.

With Debuchy behind Hector Bellerin and Calum Chambers in the right-back pecking order, he is likely to be considered surplus to requirements but the Baggies chances of signing him could have taken a knock with St. Etienne interested.

Debuchy may favour a return to his home country in order to get his career back on track and make the most of his remaining years in professional football.

It remains to be seen if the Baggies will indeed make a concrete offer for Debuchy, who has just 18 months remaining on his current deal in north London.
