Herrera has been on the books of Rangers since the summer of 2017 when he joined from UNAM for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Record to be worth £1.5 million.
The 29-year-old forward was a signed made by then Gers manager Pedro Caixinha, and the Mexico international has failed to make an impact at Ibrox.
As reported by The Daily Record, Herrera has scored just twice in 22 appearances for the Gers so far this season.
The Mexican forward has praised the Rangers fans and spoken highly of the Ibrox faithful’s passion.
The Daily Record quotes Herrera as saying: "The fans are impressive, the best I've seen. It's a passion that overflows for the team and as a player you hope to respond.”
Herrera has been linked with a move away from Rangers in the January transfer window.
It has been reported that Mexican side Santos Laguna are interested in the 29-year-old and watched the former UNAM star in action for Rangers against Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro in a friendly match at the Orlando City Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
