According to The Daily Record, Celtic are interested in signing young Arsenal centre-back Krystian Bielik - and it could be fantastic news for Rangers.
Celtic have already signed one centre-back this month - Marvin Compper - but Jozo Simunovic and Erik Sviatchenko are linked away.
TeamTalk reported this week that the Hoops and Old Firm rivals Rangers are going head-to-head to land Dundee defender Jack Hendry.
But if Brendan Rodgers signs Bielik then surely it clears the path for the Gers to sign the 22-year-old.
The report went on to claim that Hendry could leave for around £500,000 and Ibrox boss Graeme Murty should be a bit more optimistic about the deal now that Rodgers potentially has his sights set on signing a different defender.
Rangers need the young centre-half more than Celtic, with Bruno Alves very much in the twilight of his career, while the likes of Danny Wilson are notoriously hit and miss.
Rodgers is a fan of Hendry, having praised him in The Scottish Sun back in October, but going for Bielik certainly strengthens Rangers' hopes of signing the Dundee man and Murty should take advantage.
