From the Merseyside club’s perspective, it makes sense to want £30m as transfer fee, but if they maintain this stance and refuse to lower their demands, then it could probably mean the end of West Ham United and Newcastle United’s (reported) interest in the England international.

According to ESPN, West Ham are interested in recruiting Sturridge, while The Chronicle have credited Newcastle with interest in signing the 28-year-old striker on loan.

Paying £30m for a striker who has suffered with injuries in recent weeks may not be feasible for West Ham or Newcastle.

In fact, it may not even a great idea for either club. The Hammers do have some good strikers, such as Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll, while getting Sturridge would not guarantee Newcastle Premier League survival and at the end of the season they could end up with a striker with a huge salary in the Championship.

Perhaps Liverpool’s (reported) demand of £30m could see the Hammers and the Magpies look elsewhere for a striker.
