2017 small-cap M&A review - Rothschild on the rise

Worldwide announced Small-Cap M&A deals valued up to $50 million (including undisclosed value deals) totaled US$176 billion in the full year of 2017 – a 3.8% increase year-on-year.

The Asia-Pacific (ex Central Asia) region (by target domicile) led the Small-Cap market, with US$85.2 billion of announced deal activity.

Americas (by target domicile) led the market in the number of deals announced, with 15,108 transactions for 2017, representing 34.4% of the 43,903 deals announced worldwide.

The High Technology sector captured 15.6% of total announced Small-Cap value deals, followed by Real Estate and Industrials, each respectively registering 13.2% and 11.8% of the overall market.

KPMG tops the worldwide Small-Cap rankings for deals valued up to $50 million for the full year of 2017, working on 416 deals with a combined value of US$1.5 billion.
