Wolverhampton Wanderers are 12 points clear at the top of the Championship and will be a Premier League team before you know it.
So it makes sense that Wolves are already putting plans in place to sign players they believe will make the grade in the top tier of English football. Following on from reports of a stunning bid for AC Milan striker Andre Silva, the Express and Star claim that Wolves are battling Premier League opposition for Norwich City starlet James Maddison.
But while there may be more reinforcements to arguably the Championship’s most impressive ever squad, it is only natural that one or two fringe players may be forced to make way.
And while Ben Marshall has been linked with a move away from Molineux for a number of weeks, the Express and Star reports that fellow winger Michal Zyro is set to follow him out the door this month.
It is understood that there is interest in clubs from both England and abroad for the Polish speedster, who isn’t part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans. Wolves would rather sell but have the option to let him go on loan.
And while some fans may be disappointed that the gifted Zyro hasn’t been given a chance after 15 months out with a cruciate ligament injury, it is difficult to see how he could ever dream of forcing his way into the first-team with Diego Jota, Ivan Cavaleiro and Helder Costa all fighting for a place in attack.
So while Zyro’s injury stricken spell in the Black Country will always seem like a missed opportunity, it appears that he will be another casualty of the Fosun reign.
