Everton are reportedly still interested in Lille’s Adama Soumaoro.

According to Sky Sports, Everton are still weighing up a move to sign Lille defender Adama Soumaoro during this month’s transfer window.

The Toffees have secured one signing this month, as manager Sam Allardyce swooped to make his first addition on Friday, bringing in striker Cenk Tosun from Besiktas.

However, Allardyce may yet look to bring in another signing this month, and adding another centre back to challenge with veterans Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka may be a priority.

The Daily Mail recently reported that Everton were stepping up their interest in Lille defender Adama Soumaoro, and Sky Sports now claim that the Toffees are still considering a move.

As reported by the Daily Mail in 2016, Allardyce wanted to bring Soumaoro to Sunderland, and is seemingly still keen on the £18million-rated centre back.

Soumaoro, 25, has come up through the ranks with Lille, and has made seven appearances this season, with injuries somewhat limiting him so far this term.

He still appears to be on Allardyce’s radar though, and fans may be left wondering whether Everton could spend their money a little more wisely if the £18million fee is true.

Allardyce does already have Jagielka, Williams, Mason Holgate and Michael Keane at his disposal, and with another left back and possibly another central midfielder still needed, splashing the cash on a centre back with a limited track record may not be Everton’s wisest decision right now.
