But Stoke City may face a wait to appoint the Croatian, who was sacked by West Ham United last November.

Stoke City’s representatives have ‘wasted no time’ in contacting the former West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic following Mark Hughes’ sacking, the Sun reports.
It is claimed that Stoke have made Bilic their number one target to succeed Hughes – who was dismissed after Saturday’s FA Cup defeat to Coventry City – and want him in charge immediately.

The Croatian, however, is said to be ‘enjoying downtime’ after leaving West Ham last November, and, according to the Sun, Stoke would have to appoint an interim boss until the summer should they wish to land him.
The Stoke Sentinel reports that the former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul Lambert could be open to an initial short-term role.

And the newspaper adds that the Ostersunds FK manager Graham Potter – who played for Stoke – is ‘keen to grab his first job in England’, despite his side’s date with Arsenal next month.
Bilic emerged as Sky Bet‘s heavy favourite for the Stoke job on Monday, ahead of linked pair Gary Rowett and Martin O’Neill.
