Stoke City wasted no time in contacting Slaven Bilic to see if he was interested in filling the vacant managerial position at the club following the sacking of Mark Hughes, according to the Sun.

Bilic has been without a job since being dismissed himself by West Ham United in November, but the Potters view the Croatian as the ideal man to guide them away from relegation.

Now 32-years-old the Senegal international hardly represents a signing for the future, but with experience in the English top flight with Newcastle United as well and Stoke struggling for firepower, the striker could be a good short-term option.

Vedran Corluka

Another name than is likely to be familiar to fans of English football with Corluka having spent five years in the country with Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

The 31-year-old was signed from Spurs by Bilic for Lokomotiv Moscow in 2012, where the defender remains, and with the ability to play centrally or as full-back the Croatia international is a versatile figure.

Oguzhan Ozyakup

A former Arsenal youth player, Ozyakup also played under Bilic during his time in Turkey and has recently been linked with a return to the Gunners by Wales Online, along with Cardiff City and Everton.

The 25-year-old could help to bolster and re-energise what has become an aging and immobile central midfield under Hughes.
