According to reports from the Scottish Sun, Steven Naismith is ready to play for Rangers for free, and he is open to a return to the Gers.

The 31-year-old joined Rangers in 2007, and scored 33 goals in all competitions for the Ibrox club before joining Everton in 2012. During his five years at the Glasgow club, he won three league titles, one Scottish Cup and two League Cups at the Light Blues.

The Scotland international, who made 44 appearances for his country, joined Norwich in 2015 from Everton. Last season, he scored seven goals for the Championship side, but this season, he has made only three appearances for the Canaries.

The report claims that the Scotland star isn’t wanted by Norwich City, and he is set for a move in the January transfer window.

Naismith has 18 months left to run on his bumper deal at Carrow Road, but he has alerted the Gers that he would be willing to sacrifice his wages until the end of the season to join them.

Rangers are third in the Scottish Premier League table with 40 points. Given his experience and quality, Naismith would be a superb addition, and Rangers should try to bring him back at the Ibrox club.
