Leeds United were knocked out of the FA Cup at the weekend.

Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen has explained to Leeds Live why he did not say anything to the players after the defeat to Newport County.

The West Yorkshire outfit suffered an embarrassing 2-1 defeat to Newport away from home at Rodney Parade in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Given that Leeds are in the Championship, the Whites were expected to win the tie against the League Two side in Wales with ease.

The Whites did take the lead, but they conceded twice thereafter and also ended the game with 10 men due to the dismissal of Samuel Saiz in injury time.

Leeds head coach Christiansen has revealed that he did not anything to the players after the defeat to Newport and has explained why.

Christiansen told Leeds Live when asked what he said to his Leeds players after the defeat to Newport: “I didn’t say anything.

“They know what went wrong, what I expected from them but now we need to focus on another game.”

Newport deservedly won the tie, and it was an embarrassment for the Leeds players.

The Leeds players will know how the fans will have reacted to getting knocked out of the FA Cup by lower league opposition, and they will be determined to bounce back.
