Ademola Lookman impressed for Everton on Friday night.

There is often many positives in losing to your local rivals, but Everton fans have found one.

The Toffees lost 2-1 to neighbours Liverpool in a third-round FA Cup clash at Anfield last night.

Virgil van Dijk grabbed an 84th-minute winner on his Reds debut after Everton star Gylfi Sigurdsson had cancelled out James Milner’s second-half penalty.

It was a disappointing defeat but fans of the Goodison Park club are raving about Ademola Lookman.

The former Charlton Athletic star, a £7.5 million signing under Ronald Koeman last January, replaced Wayne Rooney on 54 minutes and the Toffees looked a far better side as a result.

The 20-year-old stretched Liverpool’s defence and gave Joe Gomez a torrid time on the left-hand side of Everton’s attack.

And those on the blue half of Merseyside have called on Sam Allardyce to start playing him a bit more regularly.

Lookman has made only seven Premier League appearances this season, but surely that number will rise after such an excellent cameo.
