Hatem Ben Arfa is one of two players that head coach Unai Emery says can leave Paris Saint-Germain during the January transfer window.

The other is Lucas Moura, with the Brazilian having made just six first team appearances this season and Ben Arfa failing to get onto the pitch once.

“Some players who play less, maybe they can be protagonists of another team because they are good players and do not have the opportunity to play here, like Lucas Moura or Hatem Ben Arfa,” Emery told French publication L’Equipe.

Ben Arfa is a familiar face to football fans in England, particularly at Newcastle United where the winger spent four-and-a-half years as a player.

The 30-year-old was often a frustrating figure at St James’ Park, mixing moments of genius with games that he just drifted through without making much impact and was eventually released in January 2015.

However, Ben Arfa reinvented himself at Nice, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists in 37 matches in 2015/16 as the club finished fourth in Ligue 1.

That earned the France international a move to PSG, but things have failed to work out at the Parc des Princes with competition so fierce, but despite that should the Magpies consider a reunion this month?

After all, current wide options Rolando Aarons and Matt Ritchie have been linked with exits by the Express & Star and the Sun respectively so recruitment on the wing could be important for manager Rafa Benitez.
