Report: Sheffield Wednesday in talks to appoint Jos Luhukay as manager

Sheffield Wednesday may have found Carlos Carvalhal’s replacement, nearly two weeks since his exit.

Sheffield Wednesday are in talks to appoint Jos Luhukay as manager, according to the Sun newspaper.

It is claimed the Owls hope to have the Dutchman on board by Saturday’s FA Cup trip to Carlisle United, after interviewing several other candidates.

Luhukay has spent his entire coaching career in German football, and managed in the Bundesliga with Borussia Monchengladbach, FC Augsburg and Hertha BSC.

The 54-year-old, who was most recently employed by VFB Stuttgart, led all three clubs to promotion into the top flight.

Sheffield Wednesday chairman Dejphon Chansiri is also said to have considered Bruno Labbadia, formerly of Bayer Leverkusen, Stuttgart and Hamburg SV, but has opted for Luhukay as he ‘he fits the budget and profile’.
