The West Bromwich Albion boss will surely be looking to bolster his ranks at the Hawthorns this month.
Baggies boss Alan Pardew addressed the media during his pre-match press conference today, and responded to a question asking him if he is interested in signing Villarreal hitman Cedric Bakambu, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.
West Brom are currently in a whole world of trouble, and sit in 19th spot in the Premier League table, four points adrift of safety, with just 16 league games remaining this season.
Pardew’s men have been impotent in front of goal this term, with their tally of just 16 league goals being the second worst in the entire division.
The 56-year-old was quizzed by reporters today regarding his January plans, and he gave a blunt response when asked whether Villarreal striker Cedric Bakambu is on his radar, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail:
“No.”
Spanish media outlet Marca report that the 26-year-old has a €40 million (£35.5 million) release clause inserted into his contract, so it is unlikely that the Black Country outfit could stretch to that amount, even if Pardew was interested in signing him.
Next up for the Baggies is a trip to Exeter in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday, and as much as West Brom fans would love to see their side embark on a decent cup run, it will surely feature well down on Pardew’s list of priorities.
