Brighton and Hove Albion are not planning to make a bid for Celtic striker Moussa Dembele unless he wants to join them.

Dembele’s future appears set to be one of the main narratives of the January transfer window, with the Mail reporting that West Ham, Stoke City and Southampton have joined Chris Hughton’s men in the running for his signature.

Brighton are clearly keen on the Frenchman, but the Mail reports that they plan to wait and see if the former Fulham starlet actually wants to make a move to the south coast before they confirm their interest with a concrete bid.
It will be interesting to see whether Dembele provides the assurances that the Seagulls are looking for, as the Mail adds that Hughton may not provide any guarantees that the youngster will be his first choice forward.
If Hughton does suggest that he would need to bide his time if he did arrive this month, then surely Dembele would be forgiven for thinking that a move to Brighton may not be in his best interests right now.

At Celtic, he has the chance to play regular football – as long as he can keep Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard out of the team – and will be gearing up for the knockout stages of the Europa League in the near future.
And if he continues to impress at Parkhead, you would imagine that it may not be too long before another Premier League side comes calling and offers Dembele the chance to be the first striker on the teamsheet.
